Students will have a safe path to walk this school year thanks to the collaborative efforts of Scioto County Engineer Darren LeBrun, the Scioto County Commissioners, the Porter Township Trustees, and the Wheelersburg Board of Education. The Engineer’s office led the effort and provided the engineering, surveying, bidding process and supervision. Equally important the Engineer’s office secured a grant to pay for 60% of the construction cost. The remainder was divided equally among the Commissioners, Trustees, and the School Board.
The sidewalk project connects the existing sidewalk on the south side of Pirate Drive with the new sidewalk on the north side of Pirate Drive. Now students and community members have a safe pathway to walk between the stadium area and the school building.
The Wheelersburg Board of Education thanks everyone involved in creating this much needed #BURG(walk)WAY for our students and community.
