Shawnee State visits Wheelersburg High School
Updates and Reminders from the Office of Admission | Greetings from Shawnee State University! We are happy to share February 2021 updates and reminders with you. Please let us know if you have any questions! Updates - President Bauer visited a few local schools last week to speak with students and staff about high school life during the pandemic and to identify challenges where SSU may be able to help (pictured above). Check out his latest column in the Portsmouth Daily Times!
- Students accepted for Fall 21 can now apply for housing! Students who apply for housing by March 15th will have top priority on their first choice preference for housing assignments (Yes, that means first time freshman could get single rooms!) We've also reduced our housing deposit to $35.00.
- Shawnee State University will be open as an ACT test site for the April 17th exam. Students can register for the test by visiting act.org (Register by March 12th to avoid a late fee).
- Students interested in College Credit Plus courses at SSU can visit our CCP site to view our slideshow, learn more about earning college credit while in high school, and complete the online application!
- Shawnee State University deadlines for selective health science programs are approaching. Students can visit our Selective Admission page or contact the Office of Admission with questions! Fall 21 Programs with deadlines March 1st are: Dental Hygiene, LPN to ADN, Nursing Bachelor.
- Save the date! Shawnee State is planning to host a Shawnee State Spring Preview on campus Saturday, March 27th, 2021. More information to come!
Reminders - We've launched a new website to announce changes to our "Test Recommended" Admission Process. For students who want to know How to qualify for scholarships if they don't have an ACT or SAT test score? We have a new scholarship plan just for students that took the placement test instead of the ACT or SAT. Check it out here!
- Shawnee State has set a new schedule of virtual and on campus visit opportunities! Students can attend virtual information sessions, but we welcome students to campus (with safety precautions in mind!).
- Registration for New Student Orientation is now available and our admitted student New Bears welcome site is live. For your students, Orientation is the official welcome to Shawnee State University. We are offering both in-person half-day orientation events as well as virtual orientation events for students to learn everything they need to know about the "business of being a student" at Shawnee State University.
