If you arrive to school after 7:45 or leave school before 2:45, you must sign in/out in the front office each day. This applies to students participating in Senior Incentive, Earn and Learn, and College Credit Plus classes that are not offered in our building
Advanced Placement Testing
The cost of an Advanced Placement test is $30. The second and third Advanced Placement tests are free. If you receive free/reduced lunch, you may get a bigger discount. If you register for a test but do not take the test, you will be charged $40. All Advanced Placement students should see Mrs. Davis or Mrs. Barrick to register for the test. The registration deadline is September 22. If you are quarantined, see me as soon as you return to school.
Dual Enrollment Meeting
Students who are taking a College Credit Plus course with Mrs. Oppy and/or Mrs. Belford will meet with Heidi Bender on Friday, September 24, at 10:00 in the tiered lecture room.
Shawnee State University College and Career Fair - Juniors and Seniors only
Shawnee State University will be hosting a college fair on Thursday, October 14, from 9:00-2:00. During the SSU College and Career Fair you will have the opportunity to speak to college representatives, learn about career opportunities and receive information on scholarships. The Shawnee State University Admissions Office will offer campus and housing tours. Email Laikyn Jonnson at [email protected] to register. The registration deadline is September 30.
The Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Program - Seniors only
The Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Program honors an outstanding youth person in the senior class who demonstrates qualities of a good citizen. This is a scholarship essay contest. To apply, 1) list your high school activities, including offices held and awards received 2) describe briefly how your efforts to serve your community have been effective or have made a difference 3) express your future plans, education, career goals, and aspirations in life 4) list extracurricular activities, scouting, 4-H, after school or summer jobs, hobbies, etc.
5) briefly describe why you feel the four qualities of a DAR Good Citizen (Dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism) are important and how you have tried to exhibit those qualities in your life and in your relationship with others. The application deadline is October 4.
PSAT - Juniors only
The PSAT will be given on Wednesday, October 13, at 7:45 a.m. This test is used to identify academic strengths and weaknesses, to prepare for the SAT, and to determine National Merit Scholars. The cost of the test is $18. If you do not have money to pay for the test, email me. Students who qualify to receive free/reduced lunch test for free. Calculators may be used. Students who pay for the test will be given an informational booklet. Reply to this email to register. The registration deadline is October 11.
High School Heisman - Seniors only
Winning a Heisman High School Scholarship presented by Acceptance Insurance requires a weighted grade point average of 3.0 or better, participation in at least one sport, and demonstrated leadership at school and in the community. Apply at heismanscholarship.com. The deadline is October 19.
Advanced Placement Payment
Students who are taking an Advanced Placement test should pay $30 to Mrs. Barrick. Second and third Advanced Placement tests are free. If you qualify for receive free/reduced lunch, I will send you payment information after the state sends grant money. The payment deadline is December 17.
