Shawnee State University College Credit Plus Update
Prior to registering for online or on campus classes, SSU CCP students must attend a spring semester advising appointment.  You must attend an advising appointment to be cleared to register for classes.  Spring advising appointments will begin on October 1.  To schedule your advising appointment, go to https://calendly.com/jcurrie/advising-meeting.  Priority Registration for Spring Semester Courses on SSU's campus or online will be the week of October 24-28.
 - October 24: Students who have completed 90+ credit hours
 - October 25: Students who have completed 60-89 credit hours
 - October 26: Students who have completed 30-59 credit hours
- October 27: Students who have completed 0-29 credit hours
 - October 28: Registration is open for all students
Course offerings for spring semester can be found on MySSU by using the course search feature https://myssu.shawnee.edu/ICS/Course_Search.jnz.  By filtering the drop-down menu, you can see all the available course options for the spring semester.  You can search by specific courses or if you hit the blue "Search Courses" button, all courses offered for the semester will appear.  You can find specific course details by clicking on the hyperlinked course codes - this will tell you if a class is online or meets in person, the dates for the class, and a description of the class.  

Marietta College Representative
A representative from Marietta College will be here on October 3 at 8:45 a.m.  Reply to this email if you would like to meet with the representative.

Science Alliance - Juniors only
Registered juniors will attend the Science Alliance at USEC on Tuesday, October 4.

Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship - Seniors only
Seniors who would like to apply to the DAR Scholarship must demonstrate qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.  Interested students should submit a resume to the guidance office by Wednesday, October 5.

American Legion Americanism Test - Juniors only
Juniors who would like to take the American Legion Americanism test should see Mr. Wills.

PSAT - Juniors only
Juniors who would like to take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 12, should reply to this email.  Students who score well on the PSAT are recognized as National Merit Scholars and can be awarded scholarship money.  The cost of the test is $18.

Shawnee State University College Credit Plus Spring Application
If you would like to take a Shawnee State University spring semester College Credit Plus course but you did not complete a Shawnee State University College Credit Plus application for summer or fall semester, you can apply at https://admissions.shawnee.edu/register/?id=892c855c-a0c3-46b0-a68a-17b8e4256773.  Reply to this email if you are interested.  The deadline for Spring CCP applications is October 15. 

High School Heisman - Seniors only

The 2022 Heisman High School Scholarship application is now open.  Go to heismanscholarship.com to apply.  The deadline is October 18.

SCCTC Informational Meeting - Sophomores only
Representatives from the Scioto County Career Technical Center will be here on Wednesday, October 26, at 1:50 in the cafetorium to discuss applications, programs, and the SCCTC Hands-On Day.  

Financial Aid Night - Seniors only
A financial aid representative will be here on Thursday, November 3, at 6:00 pm. in room 3322 to help students and parents complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Students should bring their chromebooks.

College Credit Plus Informational Meeting - Freshmen, sophomores and juniors only
There will be a College Credit Plus informational meeting for all junior high and high school students interested in participating during the 2023-2024 school year.  Students can receive both high school credit and college credit with this option.  College Credit Plus courses may be taken online, on the college campus, or at Wheelersburg High School.  Courses may be taken in the summer, fall, and/or spring semester.  Interested students who are currently in grades 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 should attend this meeting with a parent/guardian.  Students should bring their chromebooks.  If you have any questions, please call the high school guidance office at 574-2527.  The meeting is in the high school cafetorium on Thursday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m.

Scioto Foundation Scholarships - Seniors only
The Scioto Foundation Scholarship application will open on December 12.  The deadline is March 15 at 5:00 p.m.


 - Go to actstudent.org to register for the ACT.
 - Students with IEPs or 504 Plans who wish to register for the ACT should see Mrs. Davis to request accommodations for the ACT.
 - Juniors and seniors who receive free/reduced lunch receive two fee waivers to take the ACT for free.  See Mrs. Davis if you qualify.
 - Students who have registered for the ACT who do not have a driver's licence or permit should see Mrs. Davis or Mrs. Barrick for an ACT ID.
 - November 4 is the regular registration deadline for the December 10 ACT.
 - January 6 is the regular registration deadline for the February 11 ACT.
 - March 10 is the regular registration deadline for the April 15 ACT.
 - May 5 is the regular registration deadline for the June 10 ACT.

College Credit Plus - Ohio University Southern - Spring application
Ohio University Southern's College Credit Plus application for spring semester is available at https://admissions.ohio.edu/portal/application.  The application deadline is November 1.
End of Course State Testing 
Students who need to take a fall semester end of course state test will test on Tuesday, December 6, and Wednesday, December 7.  Details will be emailed individually to students.
ACT - Juniors only
All juniors will take the ACT at Wheelersburg High School on Tuesday, February 28.

May 1 - AP Chemistry
May 3 - AP English Literature and Composition
May 5 - AP Art
May 8 - AP Calculus
May 9 - AP English Language and Composition
May 10 - AP Biology
Common Application - Seniors only
The Common Application is one application that many colleges use.  Marshall University, The Ohio State University, Ohio University, and Miami University are examples of colleges/universities that use this application.  You can complete the single application and then send it to multiple colleges.  Go to commonapp.org to apply.

Scholar Leaders Program at Shawnee State University - Juniors only
If you are interested in participating in a Scholar Leaders Program at Shawnee State University, please reply to this email.  The group has guest presenters, group work, and a service learning project.
