Subject: Important Information About Student Lunch Accounts
Dear Wheelersburg Families,
We want to ensure you are informed about our student lunch account procedures and the options available for managing your child’s cafeteria purchases.
Charge Limit Policy
- Each student has a $15 charge limit for combined meal and à la carte purchases.
- À la carte purchases include extra entrée items (such as pizza or sandwiches), snacks, and drinks.
- If the $15 limit is exceeded:
- Your child will still receive a meal, labeled and charged as a “Max Meal.”
- À la carte purchases, including extra entrée items, will not be allowed until the balance is reduced below $15.
Parent Options
- Request a Lower Charge Limit: You may set a lower charge limit for your child by contacting the cafeteria.
- Prohibit À La Carte Purchases: You may request that your child be unable to purchase à la carte items—including extra entrées—at any time by contacting the cafeteria.
Managing Your Student’s Account
- Monitor Online: Parents can monitor their child’s lunch account at any time through their PaySchools account. Visit www.wheelersburg.net for account access and payment options.
- Prepay Online: Easily add funds through PaySchools, found on our district website.
- Send Payments: Cash or check payments may also be sent to the cafeteria with your child.
- Low Balance Notifications: To help you stay informed, we provide automated phone messages to alert you when your child’s account balance is low. In addition, our staff will make periodic personal phone calls and mail statements as needed when balances require attention.
Apply for Free or Reduced Lunch
If you believe your family may qualify, we encourage you to apply for free or reduced lunch status. These confidential applications help ensure students receive healthy meals regardless of income and provide important support for your household. Application information is available on our district website, or paper applications are available from the school office.
Proactive account management helps ensure uninterrupted meal service and supports our school nutrition program. Please contact the cafeteria staff if you have questions or need to update your child’s account options.
