William F. Boyer

William Boyer was a member of the Class of 1955. While attending Wheelersburg High School he was very active. Mr. Boyer was in the band, Junior class play, and served as vice-president of his senior class. He participated in baseball, basketball and football.
He taught for eleven years in the Wheelersburg School system, serving as an assistant football coach under Andy Hopkins and under Harold Mullins. He became head football coach in 1964 and held that position for six years. While at Wheelersburg, Bill also coached baseball, boys’ and girls’ track. He started the girls’ track team in 1968-69, the first sports program for girls at Wheelersburg in many, many years. His teams were very successful. He started the Pee Wee football program in 1967.
After leaving Wheelersburg Local Schools, William Boyer went to Minford Schools, serving as elementary principal and as superintendent of schools. In 1974 Bill and two partners started the Minford Pharmacy and he has served as President of Minford Pharmacy, Inc, to date.
He also worked for Pilasco-Ross Education Center helping to organize an early childhood education program for ages 3 to 5 years of age in Scioto, Pike, Lawrence and Ross Counties. After retiring in 1987, Mr. Boyer was selected by the Eisenhower Foundation to go to China to make a comparison between the educational systems of China and the United States.
In 1996, he received his private pilot’s license and belongs to the Greater Portsmouth Pilots Association and Aircraft Owners Pilots Association.
