Welcome to the Wheelersburg Local Schools and our website. I am very proud that our Media, Information and Technology students have organized such a wonderful site on the worldwide web. This site was developed to share information about our great schools with everyone near and far. So let me introduce the “Wheelersburg Pirates” to you.
Wheelersburg is a small rural southern Ohio community along the banks of the Ohio River. We are two hours south of Columbus and two and one-half hours east of Cincinnati. Wheelersburg is a dynamic, positive-minded, progressive community. Our three schools, Wheelersburg High School (9-12), Wheelersburg Middle School (4-8) and Wheelersburg Elementary (PS-3) serve approximately fifteen hundred and seventy-five students.
We are guided each day by our District’s mission statement which says, “The mission of the Wheelersburg Local Schools is to ensure the highest quality education to prepare all students for their futures through an innovative and diverse learning environment.” Our goal is to fulfill this mission each and every day to the benefit of our students. Whether it is an instructional strategy or a new educational resource, we always relate each decision to our mission statement. The Board of Education, administration and staff consider our mission to be an integral part of our success.
The Wheelersburg Local Schools have a tradition of academic excellence. The community encourages and supports a quality curriculum that prepares our students to achieve to the best of their ability. The faculty has high expectations and through their innovative instruction and dedication our students excel. Although Wheelersburg Local Schools consistently rank as one of the best schools in Scioto County and southeastern Ohio when comparing test data, our academic success is much more. I firmly believe our students are prepared to succeed when they graduate from Wheelersburg Local Schools.
We are also proud of our students’ athletic and activity accomplishments. Our student participation rate in athletics and activities is very high not only because everyone is encouraged to participate but also because of the amazing level of parental and community support our students receive. The orange and black decorations throughout the school and community reflect our “Pirate Pride”.
As you can see I am very proud of the Wheelersburg Local Schools. Our academic, athletic programs and activities are second to none in Southern Ohio. But there is much more to our schools; please explore our web site and experience all it means to be a “Pirate”.
