Hi! My name is Erin Prater and I am the 4th grade Reading teacher. This will be my 12th year teaching Middle School.  In the past I have taught ELA and Social Studies in grades 4-8 in other school districts.  4th grade is my favorite grade to teach!  I am married to, Alex, who also works in the Wheelersburg School district and is the Head Boys High School basketball coach. We have a 7 year-old son, Brady who is in 1st grade this year. We love being Pirates!

I graduated from Green High School in 2005.  Then, I attended Ohio University where I graduated with a Degree in Middle Childhood Education in 2009.  I earned my Master's Degree in Learning and Technology, from Western Governor's University in February 2020. 

This year in 4th grade Reading we will use close reading to focus on fictional texts. Students will be exposed to a variety of reading resources such as mentor texts, novels, and short-stories to aid in comprehension.   My goal is to develop your child’s reading skills, while creating an environment that encourages students to enjoy reading.  Our class will also focus on writing summaries, writing in response to text, and persuasive writing, all of which will be integrated throughout our curriculum.
