Earl Miller

Earl “Pug” Miller was born October 22, 1927 in Wheelersburg. He graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 1945. During his high school days, he worked on Bihl’s Farm and at the Kroger Store in what is now the Masonic Temple Building.

In high school, he was in the Model Airplane Club, Glee Club, Track Team, Baseball Team, Industrial Arts Club, Senior Class play, Varsity “W” club, Aviation Club, Student Council and Class President his senior year. Pug was an outstanding basketball player.

In January 1946, he joined the U.S. Army. He did his training at Fort Lewis in Seattle, Washington and was stationed at Florence, Arizona. He was transferred to Presidio at the end of the war and then to San Francisco before his discharge.

After the military service, Earl attended Franklin University in Columbus. He retired after 39 years in the insurance business with Nationwide Insurance Company.

Community Service
Earl Miller is an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He helped construct the addition of a new work storage room in the hall.

Men’s Civic Club member, serving as Treasurer.

WHS Football volunteer. Pug worked tirelessly, volunteering in the concession stand and helping to maintain the high school football.

Kiwanis Club member

Volunteers at St. Monica’s food pantry, 3 days per week

Children: 7 children (all Wheelersburg High School graduates) and 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild
