Anna Catherine Thieken was born September 4, 1931. For the first two years of her education, she attended Lick Run School and then for grades three to eight, she attended Lyra Elementary. She attended Wheelersburg High School for four years and graduated in 1949. Her working career included babysitting, working at Security Bank and Marting’s, before making the decision to commit her life to the convent. She began at the Dominicans at St. Mary’s of the Spring in Columbus, Ohio and entered the convent in 1955. In 1956 she made her first profession and made her final vows for her lifelong commitment in 1959. As a nun, she was a teacher in Pittsburg, Columbus, Dixon, New Mexico. Newark, Lancaster, Albuquerque, Puerto Rico. In her many years of services, she touched thousands of lives, through her teaching and outreach. She retired from teaching in 2000.
